About Alex

I write about creativity, people, and technology. I’m author of four books and numerous popular scholarly articles. I’m based in Silicon Valley, and have spoken and consulted around the world

I founded 4 Day Week Studio, and have worked with hundreds of companies, nonprofits, and government agencies to implement 4-day weeks. At 4 Day Week Global, I designed and ran world-famous national programs, led consulting projects, and developed the curriculum for its live and online courses.

I’ve written and spoken about rest and the 4-day week in the Financial Times, National Public Radio, South China Morning Post, BBC, Australian Financial Review, and many podcasts.

I’ve delivered keynotes and workshops about rest and the 4-day week at events around the world, in venues ranging from the Googleplex, to CIA headquarters, to the Globe Theatre.

For speaking in the United States, I’m represented by BrightSight Speakers Bureau. For speaking in Europe and the UK, I’m represented by A-Speakers.

I studied history of science at University of Pennsylvania, and corporate strategy (with systems thinking pioneers Russ Ackoff and Hasan Ozbekhan) at the Wharton School. After receiving my Ph.D., I taught at Stanford and UC Berkeley, and worked as a futurist and technology forecaster at Institute for the Future and Strategic Business Insights.
